Patten in the News - Charity Skittles Match article (October 2009)

From Duffield Scene - October 2009

A charity skittles match held at the Pattenmakers Arms in Duffield recently in aid of Derby Mountain Rescue Team, raised £493 for the Duffield based voluntary emergency service.

Two teams, comprised of mixed pub customers and rescue team members, competed against each other in a close fought, but light hearted match, where money was raised by entry fees for players and imposing fines for missed shots.

A raffle was also held after the event, with prizes donated by pub regulars and team members, which further contributed to the amount.

The pub had been raising funds for the event throughout the year through it's regular Sunday night pub quiz.

A charity quiz night raised further funds when Derby Mountain Rescue was selected as the beneficiary.

The team has answered some 450 call-outs in the past thirteen years.

"Thanks to everyone who was involved," said Nic Berry, chairman of Derby Mountain Rescue Team.
